American Contemporary Ballet always performs to live music, and partners with some of the finest musicians in Los Angeles.
MORGAN JONES
Music director
ACB Music Director Morgan Jones, a musician, composer, and educator, received degrees from The Juilliard School and USC Thornton School of Music. He started playing piano for American Contemporary Ballet in 2017 and became its Music Director in 2021.
Jones has played alongside notable artists including Aretha Franklin and Alicia Keys. He received high praise from the New York Times for the premiere of "Concerto for Ornette" for which he was mentored by the legendary Mr. Coleman. He has also contributed to popular music, recording the featured baritone sax line in Panic! at the Disco's hit song "High Hopes." On television, Jones has made many appearances on Glee, The Voice and American Idol.
In addition to performing, Jones is passionate about music education. He is known for his innovative approach to teaching piano, music theory, and improvisation. He began teaching in New York City public schools in 2011 through the Morse Teaching Artist Fellowship, and he currently runs an active piano studio. Morgan also chairs the Keyboard Department at the Los Angeles College of Music.
